Uncharted | Crossing To The Other Side

We did it!  We’ve worked for months to walk up this Sunday morning and we did it together, church!  Thank you for your willingness to enter an important conversation together. Thank you for your willingness to take a risk together.  Thank you for your desire to allow God to shape our hearts together.  That really showed this past Sunday as, together, we made our financial commitments together. As one person said to me after the service, “that was truly an amazing experience!”

Now that we’ve “crossed the Jordan river together” what’s next?  Do I just continue to wear that T-shirt for the next two years while I preach?? Here are a couple of important details about the next steps in our uncharted journey together: 

  • First, you are still able to commit! If you were not in attendance at our service, or if you just were not quite ready to fill out your commitment card, don’t worry—there’s still time! Just go to our Uncharted website and click “commit” in the upper, right-hand corner and make your commitment before April 15th. We truly don’t want you to miss out!  We want 100% of us to all go together!
  • Second, Sunday morning on April 22 we will not only reveal our total number (along with some great statistics about our commitments!) but we will have our very first BIG GIVE during our offering! This will be the first offering we take together in our new, uncharted reality. If you’re an online giver, consider giving in the plate on that day. If you’re a monthly giver, consider this being the day that month you give.  I’m hoping this first offering will set us off into the uncharted, unlike any offering before it!
  • Finally, Sunday evening, April 22, we will end our Celebration Sunday with a potluck dinner together where we can share more stories together and where I’ll lay out some next steps in our new initiatives around purchasing property, planting churches, and with our next generation. Don’t miss it!

In the meantime, consider these words from the Apostle Paul who wrote to a church in Ephesus:

For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:14-19

The commitment you’ve made in this journey allows God to do immeasurably more than all we could ask or imagine. Allow this passage to be a final encouragement and inspiration as we seek to honor God with our commitments to generosity today. All He asks is that we first trust Him. He has provided promises to us, but He is now asking us to respond. Will we? Will we honor Him with all that we have and all that we are? Will our Uncharted commitment be something that causes us to say we are standing before Him with confidence, knowing that we have made a decision that causes us to rely only on Him? His power will be at work within us, so long as we commit our lives to Him.

Immeasurably more generosity. Immeasurably more commitment. Immeasurably more impact both IN us and THROUGH us.
